Fear of Men - BTR Live Studio [ep217]

Fear of Men are a band from Brighton, England, born of an art school project by vocalist/guitarist Jessica Weiss and her home recordings of ambient soundtracks to short films. Now a four piece and drawing their inspiration from art and philosophy, Fear of Men deliberately juxtaposes iconic museum imagery and lyrical themes of loneliness and fragmentation with buoyant pop melodies, resulting in songs with often bleakly nihilistic subject matter swimming in hummable pop tunes.

Butter The Children - Serious Business on BTR [ep116]

Butter The Children is an NYC-based quartet, newly signed to Downtown Records that features members of Le Rug, Sweet Bulbs, and Night Manager (who were previously featured on Serious Business on BTR). The band blasts out satisfying post-punk/indie rock tunes that would make the perfect soundtrack to just about any flick revolving around road trips, wild parties, or young lovers. Keeping the tempos up and the guitars going wild, no moment is wasted with this band. Also, as they tell Travis here, they may be working on a concept record — so there’s that.

His heroes are the underdogs of pop like Harry Nilsson, Nick Lowe, Todd Rundgren, Lee Hazelwood, Brian Wilson, and all the other musical visionaries who can get down with happy accidents, soul power, and the lushness of it all. And his experiences performing with the likes of Cat Power, Dirty Delta Blues, and other notable acts informs his powerful solo work. Supercute! - Serious Business On BTR  [ep112]

Supercute! is a an all-girl band from Brooklyn who definitely live up to their name. Founded by 19-year old singer Rachel Trachtenburg — whose musical roots go back to playing drums in The Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players at age 6 — and joined by bandmate Julia Cumming, this duo is currently prepping their debut album, produced by British songwriter Kate Nash. Here, the girls are joined by friends to complete the super cuteness, just before they head out on tour.

A true rock ‘n roll band of brothers via divorce and remarriage, their childhood musical beginnings found a new life in 2007 when they formed the band and set out to tour, make records, and operate all ages venues.
